Our client a Telecoms and IT Consultancy are looking for a meticulous and numerate C++*Windows developer with one year`s commercial experience to join their Decision Systems Group.
The main areas of responsibility are product development and first-line technical support:
* Contributing to overall design discussions with the Decision Systems team, covering both analysis of complex data structures and user-interface ergonomics.
* Coding and testing new features of the core platform in C*C++ on Win32
* Implementation of secondary interfaces, such as data import from Excel and ODBC data sources, VBA support for the STEM add-in for Excel, and COM object support for Web applications in ASP and supporting HTML
* Attention to coding style and standards, peer review, balance between initiative for new enhancements and respect for overall integrity of a complex system
* Maintaining integrity of version control system, merging parallel revisions, proper use of branch and version labels; sharing of external build procedures
* Email and telephone support to internal users and licensed external users
* Development and fault tracking with the Decision
* Systems Change Manager database, plus incremental development of Account Manager and Action Manager databases
* Verification of reported errors, analysis and debugging, diagnosis, proposal of solution, implementation, testing and customer resolution
* Updating third-party copy-protection interfaces, dongles and soft-licensing.
Requirements:
* Educated to good degree level in a numerate subject
have at least one year?s commercial experience coding in C++ on the Win32 platform
* Not be scared of pointers or virtual function tables
* Good Microsoft Office skills, especially worksheet formulae and VBA in Excel and Access.
Ideally:
* have experience of creating ASP pages on Windows 2000 and XP platforms
* be aware of current issues in telecommunications markets and technologies.
